Memorial Day & More

Hello, My Friends!

So, at work yesterday, I told the Chief I was going to throw a huge party when the wind goes away in Yarnell. He informed me that we have a few more weeks of the blustery stuff. It’s been ridiculous! I sure hope he’s wrong on that one….but all that is to say I’m ready for SUMMER and all the fun events that come with it!

Here’s what we have coming up for the rest of May and early June:

1. Tomorrow, Friday, May 27th – Yarnell Family Diner is kickin’ with Manzanita Road. These guys are so talented. Make sure you get to hear them. 5pm – 8pm.

2. BUT, if you miss them Friday night, you can catch them on Sunday, at Marsha and Craig Lohr’s Beach Party in honor of Memorial Day! They’re located at 22430 Hackberry, Yarnell. The party is from 1pm – 5pm. BYOB and Potluck. Don’t forget your beach chair…

3. Monday – Happy Memorial Day seems like a misnomer. It should really be Grateful Memorial Day. But happy 3-Day weekend is appropriate. American Legion Post 79 is hosting a Brats and Burgers Cookout from 12pm – 3pm.

4. Thursday, June 2nd – Paint A Painting at the Community Center. 6:30pm. You don’t have to be a great painter, you just need to be a person who wants to have fun and explore your creative side. Donation of $20, fundraiser for the CC. Call Jerry Florman 602-399-1679

5. Friday night, June 3rd – Since so many people in Yarnell are helping with the Yarnell Memorial Run, let’s make this the Pre-Event Party at the Yarnell Family Diner. Trust me, we’re all ready for a fun night, but we’ll keep it an early one. I’ll play the tunes from 5pm – 7:30 or 8pm. Let’s unwind!

6. Saturday, June 4th is the Yarnell Memorial Run – Opening Ceremony begins at 6:50am and the 19k starts at 7:15am. Here’s the thing: if you don’t want to participate in the run or be a volunteer, you can still help the cause and participate in the Raffles. It’s easy, just show up at the Yarnell Assembly of God before 8:30am to get your tickets. You must be present to win. There’s a 50/50 and some AWESOME items. Proceeds benefit the Yarnell Fire District, the Eric Marsh and William Warneke Foundations.

7. Sunday, June 5th – A beautiful Garden Fashion Show at B-Wear Chic Boutique, begins at 6pm. RSVP is requested by June 1st. Call 928-427-6375. Local Homemade desserts and coffee social followed by the modeling of Stacy’s gorgeous inventory and her own designs! 22783 S. Hwy 89 in Yarnell. Click here to print your invitation!

8. Friday, June 10th – 2nd Friday at the Yarnell Family Diner brings our very own “Strings Attached” aka, Walt Eckes! 5pm – 8pm, be there or be square.

9. Friday, June 10th – If you’re down Wickenburg way, I will be playing at the Elks Lodge #2160 from 5pm – 8pm. Full dinner, which I hear is awesome.

10. Saturday, June 11th at 7pm – BIG BAND PARTY/Costumes Optional at the American Legion Post 79. I’m trying to decide what to wear, since I have the privilege of entertaining! Big Band is cool. This will be so much fun. Open to the public. Click here to get the details.

I can’t believe that was a whole 13 days, and it’s packed with fun options!

See you all soon and many blessings,

Denise

Mid-Spring & Forward

Hey, Friends in and Around Yarnell!

Hope all of you are doing well and staying out of trouble! This edition of the Yarnell News by Denise Roggio is packed full. Ha-Ha….your musical reporter at work. As they say, “We Aim to Please!” I hope I don’t forget anything, but I’ll do my best with info I’ve been given.

As always, the entertainer in me won’t be able to start with anything else. So, here’s what’s happening in our musical fun world:

This Friday, April 29th – Yours truly will play at the Yarnell Family Diner, 5pm – 8pm with the usual fun we create together!

This Saturday, April 30th – I’ll be playing at the VFW Post 541 in Prescott. This is their annual fundraiser for the VA Hospital Alzheimer’s Treatment Center – Golf tournament and BBQ. My music begins at 4pm. You can stop by because it’s open to the public! By-the-way, the VFW has become a non-smoking facility indoors, with a separate room for those of us who choose to create rings…Read more here!

Friday, May 6th – I’ll see you at the Yarnell Family Diner again from 5pm – 8pm

May and June are already crazy busy on the Yarnell Schedule. Mark these dates:

Yarnell Daze 2016! May 14th all day. Come visit me at the Vendor’s Field Stage. Our lineup is AWESOME, and I’ll be the filler performer, so the music never stops! We start at 9am, and the Yarnell Daze Parade begins at 10am. Walt Eckes and Delbert Long will perform at the Diner, and the Beer Garden will be ROCKIN….Be there or be, well you know…

The Special Election, at the Presbyterian Church, 6 am – 7 pm on May 17th. AZ Propositions 123 and 124 are being voted on.

The usual FRIDAY NIGHTS AT THE DINER, Featuring Myself on 1st and 3rd Friday, Walt Eckes & Friends on 2nd Friday, and Manzanita Road on 4th Friday. You cannot go wrong.

There will be another PAINT A PAINTING NIGHT at the Yarnell Community Center, 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 2. Call Jerry Florman at 602 399 1679 if you are interested in participating. $20 donation to the Community Center. Some supplies are available. Call and reserve a seat.

Saturday, June 4th at the Yarnell Assembly of God, 17125 Fountain Hill Road is a wonderful annual event hosted by the Yarnell Fire District. This is the Yarnell Memorial Run which includes 5k, 10k and 19k and fun run or walk event. Each kilometer of the 19k will honor the memory of one the Hot Shots who died battling the Yarnell Hill Blaze in 2013. All the information for this is on the website.

A couple reminders: FREE SLASH DROP OFF PROGRAM announced by the County Board of Supervisors began April 11th and continues through June 11th. Click Here for details. A complete Yavapai County Transfer Stations list is here…

Also, the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group wants to share their report with all of you. So click here to read it.

Okay, there’s always more, but too much information causes my brain’s computer to short circuit. NO COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY!

Hugs and Have a Great Week,

Denise
