Yarnell’s First Groundbreaking Planned
We will be celebrating the construction of the first home in Yarnell since the Yarnell Hill Fire with a groundbreaking ceremony and barbecue:
Saturday, Sept. 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Roy and Stacy Pizzirusso are hoping to have their permit in hand for their site-built Glen Ilah home early next week and plan to make the groundbreaking a festive event with food and live music.
“I want it to be completely positive,” Stacy says. “Yarnell rebuilding bigger and better.”
At the event, Chuck Tidey, chair of the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group, will say a few words, followed by a few words from Roy and Stacy.
Following the ceremonial groundbreaking, Denise Roggio will perform her new song, “Yarnell Rising”.
All of the residents of Glen Ilah, Yarnell and Peeples Valley are invited, as well as the Yavapai County officials who have been on the ground since the fire.
Michael Manone of MJ Manone, LLC, the couple’s contractor, will supply carne aside tacos and beverages. Bring a dish to share if you are able.
The Pizzirussos will be rebuilding the home they lost, with some minor modifications.
“We had a really cool house and we’d like to have it back,” Stacy says. You can find Stacy’s full story on the “Our Stories” page of our website, www.YarnellHillRecoveryGroup.org.
